Key Stage Two : Science : Electricity

This science scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to devise and construct different electrical circuits that can be used to control electrical devices for a range of specific functions in a family home. The class can select circuits that can be used to solve problems.

Devise and construct different electrical circuits that can be used to control electrical devices for a range of specific functions in a family home

Lesson One : Circuit Symbols
Practise using the correct symbols to record the structure and layout of electrical circuits

Lesson Two : Repairing Circuits
Identify and record different ways of repairing broken circuits by changing and adding components

Lesson Three : Lighting Bulbs
Create and build a range of different circuits to light bulbs and use other electrical components

Lesson Four : Households
Explore different ways of building electrical circuits to power a range of household devices

Lesson Five : Bedroom Alarm
Devise and test electrical circuits that can be used as a pressure switch for a warning signal

Lesson Five : Using Motors
Devise and test different electrical circuits using motors to complete a range of specific functions

Electricity Assessment
Assess the children’s abilities in devising and constructing different electrical circuits that can be used to control electrical devices
